Big Girl Bed

Two major transitions in 2 weeks - some would say I'm crazy!  But thankfully, Lily has done great with both potty training and moving from her crib to a twin bed.  Praise God for answering my prayers!  Putting her bed together was a joint effort - thanks to our friends the Drews for the boxspring and our friend Phillip for providing his tools and his fellowship with Justin while he made the side rails.  Once it was all done, Justin put  her bed up and her bedding on while I was at water aerobics.  I got a little emotional on the way home when he told me that it was all set up and I wasn't there to be a part of it....I'm grateful I have a husband who is considerate of my pregnancy hormones and decided to take the bedding off so I could put it back on when I got home and participate in this big milestone in my daughter's life. :)  The bedtime and naptime routine have been taking alot longer and she definitely tries to drag things out more but nothing major.  The first thing she said when I opened her door that first morning was "Mommy, I didn't get out!"

Another Day at the Orchard

 After 2 straight days of potty training, we visited the orchard...while there we made good use out of the potty barn! :)

 This was the first time she took any interest in the duck races.

 Some of the goats were roaming around and Lily started to pet this one, unbeknownst to her that it was about ready to......

 headbutt her in the tummy!  

She preferred to admire them from a distance after that episode.

The Everyday Question of Motherhood

Really feeling this one today.  How is it possible to be completely convicted by something and yet very much encouraged at the same time?  I guess only God can do that.  I hope you enjoy this post too!

Can You Tell What We're Doing Today?

Plenty of salty snacks to create thirst, appealing beverages in her sippy cup, a timer, M&M's as a reward and well...I guess the DVD pretty much gives it away.

Yep, we're gettin' serious about this potty business and I'm happy to report that as I sit here during naptime, we made it the whole entire morning accident free!!

The weather is much too lovely today to stay inside and miss it though.  So we played in the backyard for awhile and enjoyed the sunshine.  Here's a few photos to brighten your day.  What could be more classy than an ensemble of undies, a pajama top and a St. Louis Cardinals bib?!  That's how we're rollin'.

Maternity Photos

Our friend, Courtney, took some maternity photos for us a few weeks ago.  With sickness taking me out for 2 weeks and then busy days since then, I keep forgetting to post them!  Anyway, she did a great job and Big Creek proved to be a good pick for the backdrop.  I'm happy that we'll have these to look back on and remember our time anticipating Baby J's arrival.  Only 5ish weeks to go!

Connection Group Fun

A couple weeks ago, our connection group met up at Center Grove Orchard.  You knew this place wasn't just for kids, right?  I think the adults had just as much fun!  Especially Justin on the big pedal tractors...I think both Lily and Sammy were a little skeptical of their safety with how fast he was going! :)  It was very warm that day and it ended with a beautiful sunset.  Cheers to great friends and great times!

 The awesome thing is that no one told her to do this.  But every time she would go into one of the little pig houses, she'd press her nose against the glass.  Love it.

 Her expression says it all.  Ya know how sometimes kids are scared to death to do something and then when it's over, they're all like "Again, again!"  Yeah, Lily didn't do that.

Funny Conversations

In the past couple of weeks, I have had several conversations with Lily that have just cracked me up.  Here are the ones I took the time to write down so I wouldn't forget!

(On 9/20 after women's bible study.  We were sitting in the El Azteca parking lot and I realize I forgot my wallet at home.  Lily was disappointed, as was I).
Lily: I don't wanna go home.  I wanna go in the restaurant.
Me: I know sweetie but we don't have any money.

Then, a couple of days later, when Justin was putting her to bed:
Justin: Tomorrow we're going to eat at a restaurant for lunch.
Lily: No Daddy, we don't have no money.
*I had told Justin about our previous conversation so he busted up laughing at this!

And finally, in relation to the forgotten wallet...a week later as we're driving in the car:
Lily: Mom, you got your purse?
Me: Yes, I do.
Lily: Oh, ok.  I wanna go to a restaurant then.
*As if I'm not tempted to go out to eat all the time anyway!  Now I have a child who wants to and it's really hard to say no to this at times! :)

(On 9/27 in Target - the 3 following conversations took place): 

When turning the cart around, I hit one of the shelves.
Lily: Mom, that's embarassing.
*I'm already embarassing her at age 2!  Just wait til she's a teenager. :)

Lily: That yady (lady) over there has pink hair.
Me: (trying not to laugh) Shhhh!
Lily: You laughing at that yady?
Me: No, I'm laughing at you!

Heading to the checkout lane....
Lily: I don't wanna pay.
Me: Well we need to because if we leave without paying, that's stealing.
Lily: Oh.  Is that bad?
Me: Yes, God says "Do not steal."
Lily: Oh.  Sorry, God.

Oh, this child makes life interesting and I love her so!
